Forgotten Friends

Cancun and area has an abundance of stray dogs and feral cats.  The climate is favorable for living on the street and lots of animals do.   I’ve noticed there are many kind souls here who feed them and watch out for them.  But many don’t and too many animals are in need of care.  There’s a government funded Pound here who does what they can with limited resources and donations of food and medical supplies.  They have a fair every once in a while to try to find homes for the animals in their care.  The last one in December saw 15 lucky dogs get homes – unfortunately out of over 100 in the Pound.  They offer services to spay and neuter pets for those who can’t afford it.But still too many animals wander the streets
and procreate at an alarming rate.

Along with caring about these animals what’s needed is funding.   To feed them, give them medical attention and most of all for the spaying and neutering.   Most of my friends here in Cancun have adopted pets from the street.  My husband and I now have 8 and are feeding another 10 or so – number is a moving target – in the backyard where we have built a feeding station.   We’re happy when we see the new little additions to the gang and cry when they die or get killed.
So, as animal lovers, it seemed logical to see what we could do to help all the others souls out there.  When you use We Deliver’s services at check-out we give you the opportunity to donate $1usd or other amount to this cause.  Every penny will go to the animals.  It’s a small thing in this big world of ours but every little bit helps.  If you do chose to help we give you a big thank you on behalf of our furry friends.

Here’s the link to a site I visit every day.  Takes a minute to click all the links but it’s a minute well spent.  Each click donates food and care to shelter animals.  You can also click the other links to help the rain forests, cancer patients, autistic kids and more.

Help us get here!
